The Quik-Fire Story — Stainless Steel BBQ Grills Made in Thailand

Quik-Fire has been supplying handcrafted stainless steel BBQ grills, smokers and commercial kitchen equipment in Thailand for more than 20 years.

What began with one custom stainless steel gas BBQ grill developed in Udon Thani grew into a broad range of made-to-order cooking and kitchen equipment for homes, restaurants, hotels, resorts and other commercial users throughout Thailand.

How the Idea Began

After moving to Udon Thani, Doc married his Thai wife, Sawitta.

Not long afterward, Doc wanted to replace the gas BBQ grill he had left behind in America. At the time, he found it difficult to locate the kind of solid, heavy-duty stainless steel BBQ grill he wanted in Thailand.

Doc had spent many years in the United States designing and building custom cars, pickups, Harley-Davidson motorcycles and three-wheel trikes. One of his favorite projects was an extraordinary 16-foot-long, Chevy-powered three-wheel street and show machine with a 400-cubic-inch high-performance engine producing more than 435 horsepower.

That background in custom design and fabrication helped inspire the concept for a heavy-duty stainless steel BBQ grill built around practical performance, durability and quality construction.

The First Quik-Fire BBQ Grill

In 2004, Sawitta and Doc began looking around Udon Thani for an experienced stainless steel manufacturer capable of producing the grill design.

Finding a manufacturer with the necessary fabrication skills and equipment took considerable time, but eventually a suitable stainless steel manufacturer was found.

The first completed grill turned out so well that it created an opportunity for Sawitta to begin offering similar stainless steel BBQ grills to other customers in Thailand.

The original concept was straightforward:

use quality stainless steel and materials
emphasize skilled fabrication and workmanship
produce welded rather than flat-packed bolt-together equipment
offer practical designs that perform well
provide personal customer service
allow customers to request custom sizes and configurations

From that beginning, the QuikFire range gradually expanded.

Quik-Fire and the Manufacturer

Quik-Fire is registered to Sawitta.

QuikFire works in cooperation with an established stainless steel manufacturer in Udon Thani that produces the BBQ grills, smokers and other stainless steel equipment offered through QuikFire.

Customer payments are made to Sawitta. Sawitta receives an agreed commission from each sale, with the remaining funds forwarded to the manufacturer responsible for producing the equipment.

Quik-Fire operates as a sales and customer-service division associated with the manufacturer's stainless steel product business.

This arrangement allows customers to order specialized and custom stainless steel equipment while benefiting from the experience and fabrication capabilities of an established manufacturer.

Doc's Role

Doc is not an owner, business partner or employee of Quik-Fire.

His involvement is limited to assisting Sawitta with English-language communication when required.

When English-speaking customers have questions about products, specifications or custom equipment requirements, Doc may help Sawitta communicate those details clearly.

Sawitta manages the QuikFire business and customer transactions.

From Custom Machines to BBQ Design

Doc's interest in unusual machines and custom fabrication began long before the first Quik-Fire BBQ grill.

That enthusiasm for design, mechanical performance and individually crafted equipment helped inspire the original BBQ grill concept that eventually led to the Quik-Fire product range.
